The server sight is designed to ensure that your shot will hit the target and that the projectile will not be lost on the Internet, when synchronized between the client and the game server.

World of Tanks has a client-server architecture. This means that some of the game’s functions are implemented on your gaming machine, while others are implemented on the game server. This makes the full range of multiplayer options available to players, but it has its downsides. One of them is the so-called “out of sync,” when a player sees one thing in the game client, but something else is already happening on the server. For example, you aimed your sight at a tank’s weak spot, but the game server does not know about it yet. A shot in such a situation will most likely fail to penetrate or ricochet, which could cost you victory.

With the server crosshair mod, you can also replace the central aiming marker - the crosshair - with one of the options contained within the mod.

Installation

  • Download the archive with a set of server sights and unpack it.
  • Select the type of scope you want to use - old or new.
  • Copy the contents of the folder to the mod directory res_mods\game-version

If you want to change the default server crosshair

  • Using the hint in the picture, select the type of server crosshair (WoT serverside crosshairs)
  • From the corresponding folder in the archive, copy the contents to the res_mods/game-version/gui/maps/ingame/aim folder

A game: World of Tanks (WoT)
File: Server sight, mod

Description:
This mod replaces the blue crosshairs with a high-contrast server-accurate crosshair with a customizable color of your choice and activates it automatically by default. In combination with this addition, other sight mods, such as "Reload Timer", also work.

Why do you need a server sight and what is it?
The crosshair on the client screen is very inaccurate and differs from the actual game situation on the server. There are large inaccuracies in the calculation of the sight by the client, while it is the server sight that is accurate. But the main reason to use server crosshair is server lag (latency). The server crosshair has a lag in calculating the current position, but the client crosshair does not, since it is processed immediately on your computer. (This is very important when shooting on the move or turning the turret!)
If you look around a corner and shoot at an enemy using a given client scope, your shot will often hit the wall next to you, even if you shot the enemy clearly. This happens because the server still thinks that you are in the same position 2 seconds ago (still behind the wall).
If you have a server aim on the enemy, you will always hit him (if you have paketloss of course).

When turning the turret at maximum speed, the gap between the client sight and the actual position of the turret becomes huge (even if we take into account lag and paketloss) and even larger when turning the hull. Today I made a U-turn in my Lorraine and the difference in crosshair position between client and server was 90° (!) within 5 seconds.

If you completely disable the client side crosshair, the server side crosshair will display only minor errors and a 40-100ms delay.

In fact, this is important, but the developers thought about people with poor color perception:
Most game developers don't take into account that many players have trouble recognizing certain colors. But in fact, there are quite a few such players. And some players don’t even know that they have weaknesses in color perception.
Red/Green Weakness: About 15% of players
Blue Weakness: Less than 1% of players
All players should have equal chances and this mod equalizes them. The optional "Crosshair Pack" offers crosshairs in 8 colors and good contrast, so all players get the chance to play with excellent crosshair visibility.

Installation instructions:
-Copy and paste "gun_marker_blue.dds" to "res_mods\0.7.1.1\gui\maps\ingame\aim" (if the folder does not exist, create it)
-Copy and paste "avatar.pyc" into "res_mods\0.7.1.1\scripts\client" (if the folder does not exist, create it)
-Start the game and change the settings by removing the client crosshair.

Changing the sight color and shape:
-Open the "crosshair_catalog" image file and select the shape and color
-Go to the "crosshairs" folder and copy the crosshair of your choice to "res_mods\0.7.1.1\gui\maps\ingame\aim" and then rename it to "gun_marker_blue.dds"

We present to your attention an important mod of the World of Tanks aiming system, which should be installed first - the server sight.

The World of Tanks game consists of a client and server part. The first is installed on players' computers and is responsible for most of the graphics. The second part is on game servers and is intended to calculate the interaction of players in battle. Since information is transferred between the client and server parts over the Internet, situations are possible when the picture of the battle that the player sees and the one that the server “sees” are different. The most common manifestation of the so-called “out of sync” is the disappearance of shells or a shot at the place where the tank’s gun was aimed a moment ago. If out of sync, the projectile may fly out not from the gun, but from the side of the turret, which leads to a guaranteed miss.

The server sight eliminates the problem of “wrong” shots by showing the player the position of his sight as the game server “sees” it. The mod adds a bright marker and additional aiming to your sight, which should be used for aiming. You can set fourteen marker options in different colors.

Installation

  • Download the archive, extract the contents
  • Copy the gui and scripts folders from the “Server Sight” folder to res_nodsgame_version
  • In the “Markers” folder, using the screenshots, select the appropriate type of marker
  • Copy the contents of the corresponding folder to game_versionguimapsingameaim

Please note that each folder contains several versions of the same marker in different colors - you only need to select and copy one file.

The server sight is the only alternative created by the developers to the standard sight. Many people may not like the appearance of the sights, but this is not the most important thing since the sight performs one of the important functions in the game, since the World of Tanks game has a client-server architecture. This means that some functions are reproduced on your computer, and some functions are reproduced on the game server.

This system provides the full range of possibilities for a multiplayer game, but has several disadvantages. One of them is desynchronization, in other words, when you have one picture, but something completely different happens on the server. For example, when you have already targeted a weak spot on the enemy’s armor and are ready to shoot, but the server doesn’t know about it yet, as a result this shot will most likely not reach the target.
In general, the server sight was always present in the game and it was activated using the ctrl 0 keys, but the developers, after thinking about it, decided to add it to the settings menu, where it could be turned on. However, this only worsened the aim; it began to tremble and twitch, which made it very difficult to aim at the enemy. Everything was fixed by ordinary players, who modified and improved it on their own.

This sight will especially appeal to artillery players, who most often complain that they aim at one place, but the shell flies to another place.

Be prepared that when you turn on this sight, it may happen, but at the same time, the sight reduces the probability of a miss to a minimum, although if you don’t know how to shoot, nothing will help you.
