Lenovo P780- “long-liver” among Lenovo smartphones. The main feature of this phone is one of the most powerful batteries currently on the mobile device market - 4000 mAh, which makes it possible to forget about the need to charge the device every night.
Appearance
The device is not much different from its predecessor. A flat smartphone with rounded corners will fit perfectly into your hand, pocket, or purse. Function buttons are located on the sides of the phone, the lock button is on the top. The smartphone is controlled using the touch screen. Apart from functional quick access buttons, nothing is provided.
Smartphone characteristics
So, the device has an incredibly popular quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor, with Cortex-A7 architecture, each of which operates at a frequency of 1.2 GHz. The PowerVR SGX544 chip is used as a video adapter, which is quite enough to provide high performance in games and when playing movies. The amount of RAM here is 1 GB, which is enough for most applications.
Video: AnTuTu test
Such a powerful phone can easily be called a business-class phone and become an indispensable assistant in your work. Built-in volume - 4 GB. The user will have the opportunity to increase the amount of “hard” memory by installing a memory card in the provided MicroSD slot. It is worth noting that the Lenovo Ideaphone P780 smartphone is designed for two SIM cards.

Display
The Lenovo p780 display is based on an IPS matrix with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels, which is quite acceptable for a 5-inch screen. Multi-touch supports up to 10 simultaneous touches, however, where this can be used in real life is still unclear.
The battery is what the manufacturers relied on when creating this product. In the device, it is non-removable and has a capacity of 4000 mah, which makes it possible to use the phone in intensive mode for up to 3 days without recharging. An undoubted advantage is the ability to use the phone's battery as a charger for other devices.
Camera
The device has two cameras: front 2 MP and rear 8 MP with LED flash. Video shooting is possible in HD. The quality of the images is average, which is acceptable for phones in this price range. Video recording is of average quality, but the fact that when you try to focus on your own, the camera processor only interferes with the shooting process is very unpleasant.
Video from camera
Software
Lenovo is not used to changing its habits. That is why the Lenovo P780 smartphone operates using the Android operating system version 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). Powerful, easy to use and fast, you can work simultaneously with multiple applications and easily perform multiple operations.
Results
pros
- very powerful battery
- nice appearance
- excellent GSM, WI-FI reception
minuses
- unlock button on the top edge
- The microUSB connector cover does not seem secure
The Lenovo P780 model turned out to be more interesting than its predecessor P770, however, it is not without its shortcomings, which include the shooting quality, but given the price for which this smartphone can be purchased (which is $220 when ordering directly from China), such a drawback can be overcome eyes.
Lenovo P780 is a new smartphone that is designed for long-term use on a single battery charge. The appearance of the smartphone is very presentable and expensive, most of the body is metal.
On the front there is GorillaGlass protective glass, under the screen there are three standard backlit touch buttons “Menu”, “Home”, “Back”. Above the screen there is a speaker grille, a camera eye and standard Android light and proximity sensors. The end of the smartphone is framed by a thin metal border. At the top end there is an unlock button, a headphone jack and a microUSB compartment hidden by a flap.
The rear panel carries a speaker and a camera eye with a flash. On the metal cover, which acts as an antenna, there is a beautiful inscription with the name of the manufacturer's company.
Lenovo did not follow fashion and artificially increase the pixel quality of the camera, considering it to be 8 megapixels. quite enough. But the menu of the built-in camera contains dizzying effects and all kinds of filters. The quality of the images produced is at a decent level.
Under the hood of the Lenovo P780 smartphone there is a super-capacity 4000 mAh battery, but the thickness of the smartphone does not exceed a centimeter.
There is also a memory card slot that can increase the standard memory capacity of 4 GB. right up to 32. If this volume is not enough, you can use the On-The-Go function, which makes it possible to connect external devices such as a flash drive, external drive and others.
The smartphone supports two SIM cards. Moreover, if a conversation takes place over one of them, the second does not go to sleep, but continues to work, although only for receiving and transmitting the Internet.
The size of the display on an IPS matrix is 5 inches with an HD resolution of 1280x720 pixels and a wide viewing angle of 178°. The technology allows you to use this device even with gloves, and the screen is not resistive, but capacitive.
Lenovo installed the Android 4.2.1 operating system on its device with a proprietary shell, which noticeably refreshed the banal Google design. Lenovo P780 has a specific status bar, a proprietary gallery and a battery saving function. By the way, it is recommended to use the latter only in extreme situations, since it reduces the efficiency of the processor so much that it is simply impossible to comfortably use the smartphone.
The volume and clarity of the smartphone's speakers are excellent.
Among other things, this smartphone has a quad-core QuadCore processor with a 3D accelerator and 1 GB.
RAM, which ensures efficient execution of multiple applications and smooth operation of the Android system. Naturally, the device can handle all the latest and most powerful applications with such a filling.
Interesting pre-installed applications include Business Card Scanner, which allows you to scan business cards and convert the data into digital format.
Lenovo positions this smartphone as a long-lasting device that can work without recharging for a huge amount of time. Of course, the Lenovo P780 allows you to communicate for 25 hours on 3G networks, 43 hours on 2G networks and 20 days in standby mode. So far, no full-featured smartphone can boast of this.

Lenovo P780 - Specifications
One of the most successful smartphones from Lenovo, the P780, has earned its popularity for a reason. It uses all the advanced technologies of the period when the device entered the market. You can simply list: a Quad Core processor with 4 cores, a 5-inch screen on an IPS matrix, long talk time, an 8 MP camera and much more.
Despite all the advantages of this device, like all computer equipment, it requires software updates. Next, you will learn how the Lenovo P780 firmware is updated.
How to update the software?
So, brief instructions for flashing Lenovo P780 firmware:
- download the Android firmware file for the phone to your PC;
- download and install the utility "FlashTool";
- download drivers for your smartphone to your computer and install them;

- turn off the power of your phone and connect it via USB cable;
- in the FlashTool program, click on "Firmware->Update";
- wait for the firmware process to finish, disconnect the cable and turn on the device.
Lenovo P780 radio module firmware
If your smartphone was brought from China, then it becomes necessary to update the radio module’s firmware, because without it the device will not work with our cellular operators. Firmware for the Lenovo P780 communication module can be done in two ways.
Method number 1:
- download the archive with the modem firmware to your PC;
- Using a cable, connect the smart device to the PC. The connection mode must be selected on the device "USB-FLASH";
- file modem...img copy from the archive to your phone in system\etc\firmware\ by replacing the original file;
- assign rights "644";
- click "Owner Replacement";
- in the fields of this item, fill in all the values identical to other files from this folder;
- restart your smartphone.
Method number 2:
- download the archive with the firmware to your PC;

How to return old firmware to Lenovo P780?
It often happens that a smartphone user does not like the updates that were automatically installed. Well, or the worst thing is that Lenovo p780 does not turn on after flashing the firmware. In this case, you can install the old firmware, which you are more used to, or which works more stably with your smartphone.
On Lenovo P780, firmware rollback occurs as follows:
- download the firmware file, unpack it to a convenient folder on your PC;
- turn off the power of the smartphone;
- download, install and run the SP Flash Tool utility; ;
- specify the path to the previously downloaded and unpacked working firmware files;
- check the box next to the inscription "DA DL All With Check Sum";
- connect the device to the PC using a USB cable;
- wait for the phone firmware process to finish.
Before performing ALL of the above operations, fully charge your phone. The software update process is quite expensive in terms of energy consumption. Regardless of the operation performed, wait for the process to complete! Unexpected interruption of the software update process may cause the smartphone to malfunction!
By performing all of the above actions, only you are responsible for the consequences! Therefore, be careful, and if you are not confident in your abilities or knowledge, take the phone to a service center for the necessary manipulations.

Price, battery, build quality, decent screen in terms of brightness and not easily soiled, smart, comfortable and cute design, normal camera, sensitive 3G GSM module. At first I bought the p770 for my wife, she needed a large battery, I liked it myself and took the p780.

1. Battery. 2. Screen. The screen resolution is more than enough. Viewing angles are good. 3. Fits well in the hand (my palm is not small). After purchasing a cover case specifically for this model on eBay, the phone fits even better in the hand. 4. Everything you need is installed on the phone out of the box, for example, power management, traffic management, RAM cleaning widget, etc. 5. The sound in the handset is good. When the signal level is good, it is useful to turn on the “smart sound” noise reduction, which significantly improves my audibility. 6. Programs can be installed on an external memory card. 7. Not bad headphones. 8. OTG adapter included. 9. He knows how to unblock himself by recognizing me by sight. 10. LED indication of missed calls/SMS/charging. 11. Able to turn on the alarm from the off state. 12.

There are only advantages. Battery power.

Battery: with active Internet surfing, using a navigator, listening to music - more than a day; I was especially pleased that if the battery shows 10%, this does not mean that after three seconds the cell phone will suddenly turn off - it will honestly fight for another couple of hours, gradually losing percentage of its charge.

Smart communicator! And not a cool newfangled camera with the function “to make a quick call before the battery runs out.” An excellent smartphone for business people and active work. - 4000 mAh battery - it’s important for me to be in touch and live free from an outlet. I don’t play games (except maybe nerd and erudite), I don’t watch movies, I use work software: Skype, Viber, Evernote, calendars, Internet surfing, etc. I listen to audio books. 3G or Wi-Fi is always on. - Appearance: with a 5-inch screen, the size is not shovel, thin, the build quality is excellent, it fits well in the hand, relatively light, elegant and beautiful, after all, I’m a girl :) - The camera is adequate ( I have a camera for cool digital photos separately) - The sound during a conversation is normal audibility, and not like in a tank: it’s still important to hear the interlocutor and be heard

After two months, the WIFI and blue tooth modules fell off, one does not turn off, only searches and that’s it, constantly searches and does not find, and the second simply died, resets and reboots did not help, the warranty is far away and the reviews about it are not clear, until I got there. when switching energy profiles, the settings for personalizing lighting, sounds, etc. are lost and not remembered, a little inconvenient, especially considering the possibility of their automatic switching

1. The power consumption modes set in the battery management application are not changed.
2. The automatic brightness control takes a long time to think about.
3. A widget displaying today’s tasks adds +4 hours to your time. Inexplicably. Everything is displayed correctly in the calendar and other calendar widgets.
4. If the signal level is poor, the smart sound noise reduction system terribly spoils my audibility.
5. One note about the information panel in the proprietary shell: it does not display which WiFi network the phone is connected to.
6. Full use with one hand is impossible.
7. The screen does not respond to touches with a hand wearing a woolen glove.
8. The delivery package does not include a standard cover case, which makes using the phone more convenient.

1. With 3G turned on, each (!) call began with silence for 7-8 seconds: they heard me, I didn’t. Flashing and resetting did not give anything;
2. Camera: even in the best quality, the pictures were only suitable for avatars (gray-grainy, blurry);
3. Weak slots for SIM cards: when you first removed the SIM card, the contacts came out along with it (300 rubles - repair “under the counter” on Gorbushka);
4. Glass. The first scratch appeared after three days of being worn in a trouser/raincoat pocket along with a plastic pass card. Almost a year later, the phone fell for the first time - it slid down my long skirt all the way to the floor (tiles), flew about 10 centimeters. The result - the glass was cracked, the touchscreen did not work. Replacement cost 4,500 rubles. with a purchase price of 11,000 rubles. I changed the glass... Three months later the phone fell from heights

Screen, there are frequent cases of detection of glare at the edges of the screen and dead pixels.
- The design may seem boring and outdated.
- Slippery and hard to find cover.
- The graphics accelerator is quite average.
- Internal memory is divided.
- Pre-installed non-removable software.
- Not the best microphone, but maybe it's the firmware's fault.
- Preset ring and notification sounds that are too quiet or too annoying.

The mains connection cable is short, the mini-USB charging port is covered with a flimsy plastic cover, you need to be careful with it :-)
The internal camera is very weak, but for video calls on Skype it is quite enough. The external speaker has average sound quality. Based on these two points, you need to look for something to tweak or correct.
