How to enable bluetooth on a laptop under different versions of Windows. How to enable bluetooth on an Asus laptop? Bluetooth program Enable Bluetooth on an asus laptop

Question from a user

Hello.

Tell me how to turn on bluetooth on an ASUS laptop. The fact is that I don’t have any tray icons next to the clock at all! There is also no function key on the keyboard to turn it on. I climbed and climbed, I understand the absurdity: there is bluetooth, but you can’t turn it on...

Good day.

I think that not everything is so bad, and it is possible to turn on Bluetooth even on your laptop. In this article I will consider step by step all the main things that need to be checked and corrected.

Addition!

Turning on Bluetooth: what to check

1) Checking the driver to see if it is installed

Perhaps the first thing you should do to deal with the problem of Bluetooth not working is to check whether the drivers are installed. By the way, I highly recommend your current drivers (which came by default with the installation of Windows OS) update to those downloaded from your laptop manufacturer's website!

To see if there is a driver conflict and if they are in the system, open device Manager (either press the combination Win+Pause and you will see a link in the menu on the left, or go to the control panel and open the “Hardware and Sound” section - there will also be a link to launch it) .

Next, open the “Bluetooth” tab - if everything is fine with the driver, you should see a device whose name is something like “Wireless Bluetooth”. If there are no such devices, or yellow exclamation marks are lit next to them, then you need to update the drivers (it’s also a good idea to check the “Other devices” tab - it displays devices for which there are no drivers) .

I have a lot of articles on my blog about how to update drivers on a computer (laptop). I will provide a couple of links below, where you will find all the comprehensive information on this issue.

2) Is the device turned on, is the adapter turned on

Next, after the driver is installed and the device appears in the "Bluetooth" section in the device manager, check that it is turned on! Note: when the device is turned off, the “arrow” is lit (see screenshot below).

A universal way to enter "Network Connections":

  1. press the Win+R buttons simultaneously to display the "Run" window (or go to the task manager and click file/new task) ;
  2. enter the command ncpa.cpl and press Enter.

Network connections should show (in most cases) several adapters: Ethernet, Wireless network (Wi-Fi), Bluetooth, etc.

Pay attention to the Bluetooth adapter: click on it and turn it on (it does not always turn on automatically after installing the driver).

3) Check the settings to see if the icon is disabled

  1. Allow Bluetooth devices to discover this PC;
  2. notify me when a new device is connected;
  3. display the icon in the notification area.

4) Try adding a device (including turning on Bluetooth using the keyboard)

Actually, if all of the above has been checked, the drivers are there and working, then it’s time to try connecting some device!

Method 1

In the tray next to the clock you should have a Bluetooth icon - by clicking on it, you can add a new device, receive or send a file, and view current connections.

Method 2

Pay attention to the keyboard: some laptops have special function keys to turn on the wireless network. For example, below is a laptop that turns on Bluetooth using the Fn+F8 button combination.

By the way, pay attention to the indicators (LEDs) on the laptop body (some models have a separate LED responsible for Bluetooth). If everything is fine with the adapter, it is turned on and working - you should see the LED light up (or blink).

Method 3

Another way to add a Bluetooth device is to go to the Windows control panel, enter “blue” in the search bar and select "Adding a Bluetooth device" (an example is presented below).

5) If suddenly it doesn’t work...

If all of the above did not help, and the adapter shows no signs of life, it may simply be broken. This could also happen...

However, now there is no need to worry about this - in Chinese online stores you can buy a micro Bluetooth adapter for literally 50-100 rubles. (when you insert it into the USB port, it simply will not be noticeable on the laptop body).

I'll add!

The cheapest Chinese stores are presented in this article: (by the way, there are also tips for saving even more with cashback).

That's all...

Happy work!

Let me start with the fact that almost every laptop has a built-in Bluetooth module. Not even on the newest models. This means that Bluetooth on a laptop should work without installing additional devices. I will introduce USB adapters that are necessary for desktop computers. Since there simply is no built-in module. Although, some motherboards already have built-in Bluetooth.

In this article I will try to show in detail how to enable Bluetooth on a laptop. How to do this in the operating system Windows 10, Windows 8 (8.1) and Windows 7. I will also show you how to set up a wireless module and connect different devices to your laptop. I have a mouse and wireless headphones connected to my laptop via Bluetooth. Very comfortably. You can also connect, for example, a wireless speaker, keyboard, mobile phone, etc.

All that is needed for Bluetooth to work on a laptop is the installed driver. The driver must be downloaded and installed from the official website of the laptop manufacturer. For your model and installed Windows system. But don’t rush to go to the manufacturer’s website and download drivers. It is quite possible that you already have everything installed and working. Especially if you have Windows 10 installed. As a rule, it installs the necessary drivers itself. Then you just need to turn on Bluetooth in the laptop settings and you can use it.

Where to find Bluetooth on a laptop and how to turn it on?

Most likely, you already have everything turned on and everything is working. Regardless of Windows installed, if the Bluetooth driver is installed, there will be a blue “Bluetooth Devices” icon in the notification panel. This means it is turned on and ready to go. Check on your laptop. In rare cases, this icon may be disabled in Settings.

By clicking on this icon, you can perform various operations: add a device, show connected devices, receive/send a file, configure the adapter itself, etc.

If you don’t have such an icon, then there are three options:

  1. Bluetooth is disabled on the laptop and needs to be turned on.
  2. Removed the BT icon itself from the notification panel.
  3. Or the required driver is not installed.

Let's try to turn it on.

BT on Windows 10

The easiest way is to open the notification center and click on the appropriate button.

Or go to the settings, then to the "Devices" section, and on the "Bluetooth and other devices" tab, turn on the module with the slider.

I wrote a separate article on Windows 10: . After this, an icon should appear in the notification panel, as I showed above.

How to connect the device?

Click on "Add Bluetooth or other device" and select the appropriate item in the next window.

Turn on Bluetooth on a laptop with Windows 8 and 8.1

Opening the side panel (you can use the keyboard shortcut Windows + C) and select "Options". Next, click on “Change computer settings.” Go to the "Bluetooth" section and turn on the module with the switch.

Windows will begin searching for available devices to connect to.

An icon should appear on the notification panel through which you can manage connections.

How to activate Bluetooth in Windows 7?

If there is no blue icon in the notification panel, then go to “Network and Sharing Center” – “Change adapter settings” and see if the “Bluetooth Network Connection” adapter is there. If not, then install the driver for your laptop model, or check for the presence of an adapter in the device manager (more on this later in the article). And if there is, then see if it is turned on. It may need to be enabled on the laptop.

How to connect the device?

Click on the "Bluetooth" icon and select "Add a device..."

A new window will open, in which connect your device following the instructions.

Or go to the "Control Panel", in the "Devices and Printers" section. And click on the "Add device" button. You can also open the properties of "Bluetooth Adapter" and enable the display of the icon in the notification area. This will make it easier to connect and manage devices.

How to check and enable Bluetooth in Device Manager on a laptop?

If you cannot find Bluetooth on your laptop, there are no settings, adapter, buttons, icons, etc., then most likely the necessary drivers are not installed. You need to go to device manager and check this. Or maybe you just need to use a BT adapter.

Open Device Manager. You can right-click on My Computer and select Properties. In the new window, go to "Device Manager". Or press the keyboard shortcut Win+R and run the command devmgmt.msc.

There you should see a "Bluetooth" section (may be called differently in Windows 7), which will contain the module itself (the name may also be different). This is what I have on my laptop:

If it exists, but with an "arrow" (icon next to the adapter), then just right-click on it and select “Engage”.

Perhaps you don’t have anything similar to Blues in your device manager. In this case, you need to download and install the driver.

Go to the official website of your laptop manufacturer. Through the search (or menu), find your model, and in the “Support”, “Downloads”, etc. section, download the driver for the Bluetooth module. Install it, reboot your laptop and after that everything should work.

In most cases, it is turned on by simultaneously pressing the keys Fn+F2. But today we will talk about the option when, after pressing these buttons, the desired result is not achieved.

You can also enable bluetooth on an asus laptop by following the path: Start → All Programs → Accessories → Transfer files via Bluetooth.

I think there is no need to tell you what actions to perform in this case, because the developers of the operating systems made it so that everything can be understood at the subconscious level.

Or you can follow the path: Start → Control Panel → Device Manager.
Further, if this type of connection is in the list of programs, as shown in the picture,

click and go to properties to check its functionality.

Alternatively, you can use a special program to enable bluetooth on an asus laptop. But still, I think the main reason for the failure of this wireless connection on your laptop or computer is viruses, outdated drivers, or their complete absence.

Therefore, in order to resume the operation of this device, which is indispensable in many places, you should go to
