Rock N' Roll Racing(With English Rock 'n' Roll Racing is an arcade racing video game released by Blizzard in 1993 for the Sega Mega Drive and Super Nintendo. A game

Each race involves 4 racers, depending on the selected mode, one or two of them can be controlled by players, the rest of the cars are controlled by the artificial intelligence of the game. The race track is displayed in an isometric view.

The main emphasis in the game is on the ability to attack the opponent; however, after a few seconds the exploded car finds itself back on the track with a full supply of health, the only damage caused is the delay of the enemy and his loss of position. Players receive an "attack bonus" in the form of a cash reward each time they blow up an opponent's car with their weapon (and a similar "lap bonus" when they pass an opponent by one lap). The destruction and restoration of cars is also facilitated by mines and first aid kits distributed along the route. There are also cash bonuses on the track. Other obstacles include puddles of motor oil, icy areas or lava puddles (depending on the planet the race is on), as well as numerous jumps and the occasional chasm.

Events taking place on the track are covered by commentator "Loudmouth Larry" (Larry "Supermouth" Huffman), who enthusiastically produces phrases like "The stage is set, the green flag drops!" or “Rip: is about to blow!” (there is always a small pause between the character's name and the following phrase, which is explained by the fact that a separate sound fragment is used for each name and each phrase).

During the break between races, players can spend the money they earn to improve their car's equipment (engine, tires, suspension and armor) or increase its ammunition capacity (energy beams, rockets, oil, mines) and turbo capacity (jumps, acceleration), up to a maximum of 7 slots. Despite the limited supply, spent weapons and turbo boost are restored after each lap.

Each race includes four laps. Money is needed to buy upgrades and new cars, and points are needed to move to the next league or to the next planet. In a two-player game mode, if only one of them has enough points, the character asks: “Leave your loser friend behind?” ("Leave your loser buddy behind?"), allowing the player to continue alone and removing the second player from the game. The abandoned player can only hope that he has written down the most recent password (passwords are available on the "F/X" screen) and that a more successful player will restore the game and give him a second chance.

  • Battle Track, a hybrid of a high-speed tank and a race car. Its tracks are as good as its wheels, its motor is more powerful than the Air Blade, and its jet engine is more efficient. In addition, the tracks allow you not to be afraid of skidding when turning. Mines and missiles included. The mines on this vehicle split into 4 mines 3 seconds after being deployed and then disappear. Hitting a mine when it “spreads” means death for any car. In addition, this type of mines can be dropped in the air. Accessible from planet Bogmire.
  • Havac, hovercraft . It is not afraid of sharp turns even on an icy track, and its speed is greater than that of the Battle Track. Instead of missiles, it is armed with homing projectiles, which, however, cannot be aimed at a target that is too distant. The second disadvantage of these shells is their extremely low power (it takes 6 of these “balls” to explode an Air Blade). In the SEGA version, mines are separated in the same way as in Battle Track. Appears with NHO.

Equipment

  • Rockets/bullets/shells- offensive weapon. Maximum 7 charges.
  • Mines/oil- passive defense weapon. Maximum 7 charges.

  • Jet boosters- are extremely necessary for quickly gaining speed.
  • Armor- saves the vehicle from enemy shells, mines and rams. Can be 1-4 levels.
  • Motor- significantly increases speed. Can be 1-4 levels.

The speed in this game depends on the position on the track, that is, the leader always has a lower speed than the last in the race (with the same class of cars). This is done in order to create a balance of speeds and give weak links the opportunity to catch up and destroy the enemy.

  • Wheels- reduces skidding when turning. Can be 1-4 levels.
  • Suspension- helps to land softly after jumping and flying over the track. Can be 1-4 levels.

Music

Recognizable melodies of famous bands were used as the musical accompaniment of Rock N" Roll Racing, such as:

I have never “hacked” SNES games before. Well, until one moment. One day I saw my brother playing this game. And he casually said that it would be very good if it were possible to generate passwords for Super Castlevania IV. Without thinking twice, I got down to business. After three sleepless nights, I realized what and how the password is saved.
Theory
The password consists of 16 cells (positions), each cell consists of 2 bits, a total of 16 * 2 = 32 bits. These bits store these game parameters:

Races "to rock and roll" take place in some distant future, when the Earth and nearby worlds are captured by aliens. These aliens got into fantastic cars armed with various lasers, missiles, bombs, etc. You will have to compete with them (the aliens), using mainly your driving skills. The races will take place in different worlds on tracks reminiscent of an obstacle course: with holes, puddles, potholes, ice...

During races, constantly remember the difference between Rock’n’Roll Racing and many other representatives of this genre - a three-dimensional image (in isometry) of the section of the track on which the car you are driving is located and, as a result, the increased dynamism of what is happening.

The main task is to complete a certain number of laps as quickly as possible; there are different ways to achieve victory.

ADVIСE

1. Movement can occur in any direction along the entire route, and the consequences of touching its boundaries are usually insignificant. Thus, competition participants gain the opportunity not only to compete with each other in speed and ability to turn in time, but also to conduct combat operations on very extensive training grounds.

2. Although the main goal remains to complete a certain number of laps as quickly as possible, there are different ways to achieve victory. If you can’t overtake your opponent, why not shoot him, temporarily depriving him of the ability to move, or even throw him off the track with a well-timed blow?!

3. On the road surface, in addition to various prizes, there are obstacles that need to be avoided. Wading through a pile of snow or a puddle of oil will simply slow you down, but a bomb explosion or lava flow can destroy the car, and it will take a lot of time to replace it.

4. Depending on the place taken, participants are given a monetary reward. It can be spent on step-by-step improvement of vehicle characteristics and the purchase of weapons. And also for canisters of “nitro” - an instant accelerator used for acceleration in sensitive situations.

5. Don't forget about the music! When creating the game's soundtrack, melodies from songs of such famous rock bands as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and even Led Zeppelin were used! Given the good sound effects and voice comments, RRR is unrivaled in this area.

6. There are three items in the start menu - choose whether to start the game from the beginning, enter the password you received earlier, or practice on any of the five “normal” planets (in this case, all the cars that are already fully equipped by someone will be available to you).

If you do not enter a password, you need to select a difficulty level, the number of available planets depends on it (from three on Rookie difficulty to six on Warrior) and, of course, the end screen.

Now figure out which two of the car's four abilities (fast acceleration, high speed, the ability to turn well or land without losing speed) are more valuable to you, and take the appropriate character from the six possible ones.

Next, you will be offered three cars to choose from: two jeeps, approximately equal in capabilities, and a “cocked hat” - in a normal game, it is unaffordable at the beginning (in VS mode, money is canceled). On the third (Boogmire) and fifth (NHO) planets you will have the opportunity to buy a tracked car and a hovercraft. In addition to the bonus in control and speed, more advanced vehicles have better weapons and nitro.

7. You can hit enemies in two ways - by shooting with rockets or by forming minefields. Mines are even more effective in skillful hands; it’s not for nothing that computer players love to place them. Scatter them along the outer edge of the track, and drive along the inner edge, so as to be less likely to be targeted by your pursuers.

8. Before the start of the race, a menu appears from which you can go to the next planet, buy a new car or retrofit an old one and change the sound set of the game, at the same time looking at the password. To leave the planet, you must participate in races to earn the number of points indicated above the menu (from 1400 to 3200). The number of traces displayed there (from 8 to 14) is allocated for this. If the tracks run out and you haven’t earned enough money for the flight, both counters will reset to zero. Thus, you can accumulate a lot of money on the first planet and enter more difficult races armed to the teeth. The password changes only when flying or transitioning between two parts into which all planets are divided.

9. The composition of the participants is almost unchanged throughout the game. Each planet fields its champion in the best available car. The set of racers is expanded to four by twins Rip and Shred - just like you, they can change their cars.

10. The tracks of different planets have their own characteristics. The second planet is the most hilly, on the third there are often forks (always turn off, there are more prizes on the bypass routes) and puddles, the fifth planet is icy, the sixth is full of jumps and puddles of lava. When jumping, the cars lose control - be careful not to fly off the track.

11. There are two types of prizes - wads of money and first aid kits. The latter restore the energy of the armor, whose indicator is located next to the number of laps remaining to the finish at the bottom of the screen. The map and weapon and nitro counters are on top. At the beginning of each lap, you are given as many mines, rockets and canisters as they were purchased since the last time you changed the car. Nitro is more effective on jumps and turns. A cash bonus is given for destroying an enemy and overtaking him by more than a lap.

2. Flight for two. This game (at least on some cartridges) has one incredible thing: when playing with two players, the game can transfer two players from planet to planet ONLY ONE TIME. The second time, when one of the players scores the required number of points and tries to fly to the third planet, the game will transfer only one of them, and the second player will leave the game. Check it out for yourself. Collect the required number of points and wait for the tracks to run out. After this, the game itself will enter flight mode.
