Which wireless mice are suitable for Samsung TV. Choosing a mouse and keyboard for SmartTV. Possible connection problems

There are a great many models of computer mice today, but what is a mouse for Smart TV and how to choose it correctly for a specific TV? It’s worth noting right away that you don’t have to look for any special device, the main thing is that the manipulator supports Bluetooth. Thus, any computer model will do; for example, you can use an optical mouse from a laptop.

The branded mouse ET-MP900D is perfect for these TVs. Using it to perform various operations on the screen, for example, launching widgets or controlling TV functions, is much easier than with a standard remote control. Comfortable operation of the mouse is possible with both the right and left hands. The most comfortable navigation is provided by four control keys and a scroll wheel.

Other characteristics:

  • Sensor resolution – 1600 dpi;
  • Weight – 83 grams;
  • Color version – white.

Almost any manipulator is suitable for Philips devices, but we will consider a proprietary solution. Connection is via USB, and control is via radio. Performing any operations on the TV screen, for example, launching applications or switching channels, is much easier and more convenient with a mouse. This model has a stylish design, is equipped with three control keys and a familiar scroll wheel.

Other characteristics:

  • Convenient control with right and left hands;
  • Power supply - 2xAAA;
  • Resolution - 1200 dpi.

Let's start with a description of the VGP-BMS20 model. This stylish, bright red mouse was created by Sony. You can connect the pointing device and the TV via Bluetooth. The communication range is 10 meters. A distinctive feature of this device is its fairly long battery life. For convenient navigation, you can use the usual scroll wheel.

  • 3 control keys;
  • Power supply - 2xAA;
  • Dimensions - 112x53x31 mm;
  • Weight – 105 grams.

LG Smart TVs are increasingly entering consumer homes, expanding the horizons of communications and technological capabilities. Smart TV is a television that provides not only online broadcast TV channels, but also allows you to enjoy a rich selection of new entertainment - from audio and video content to an unlimited number of entertainment, news, educational and other interactive applications and services.

A special feature of the latest LG Smart TVs is integration with tablet computers and smartphones and support for a web browser, which makes viewing on-line content not only exciting, but also extremely convenient. Modern devices also come to the rescue, such as wireless keyboards and computer mice, which make it easy to control an obedient LG Smart TV by simply connecting peripheral devices to your TV. And the game controller will become an indispensable assistant in games from LG Smart World. Don't believe me? Try it!

The LG Smart World app will allow you to watch high-quality content from a wide range of categories such as entertainment, sports, documentaries, feature films and children's films. Be it a cooking program, travel, fashion or any other program, there is something for everyone. In addition to existing content, LG plans to further expand LG's popular consumer experience.

Wide intercommunication capabilities and the innovative Magic Remote for LG Smart TVs allow you to easily control all functions of the TV. With a range of additional features such as voice recognition, scrolling and gesture recognition, the new remote control provides maximum convenience to users. The remote control allows you not only to navigate through the menu, but also to manage all settings and available application functions, including text entry. And to do this you just need to make a couple of strokes.

The limitless functionality of LG Smart TVs provides freedom of information exchange and intercommunication with all smart devices in your home:

The application for smartphones based on Android and iOS will turn your smartphone into a full-fledged LG Smart TV remote control. The LG TV Remote application allows you to control all functions of the TV, both using on-screen buttons and finger movements on the touch screen. Find the application in the Android Market or AppStore using the keywords “LG TV Remote” and install it on your smartphone.

The specially designed Smart Menu interface allows you to quickly and easily navigate through all entertainment options. Watch TV shows, premium content, work with multiple applications - all on one screen. Smart Menu provides maximum functionality while maintaining ease of access to everything you need.

Smart Share feature for easy access to content. Get instant access to content from your digital cameras, mobile phones, tablets and personal computers. With the touch of a button, transfer information from electronic devices to the largest screen in the house.

The pace of development of household appliances is amazing. The regular TV is gradually being integrated with more and more functions. If you wish, then instead of the usual one, you can buy one with a built-in smart TV system. Or purchase it separately and connect it to your TV, which will significantly expand the functionality of your “favorite”.

Why is this

Using your mouse you can:

  • “communicating” with the TV in the usual manner - with a “mouse” - is much easier than understanding a bunch of buttons on the remote control;
  • move through the menu faster, and also use the capabilities of the Internet browser 100%.

To properly access your “window on the world,” you will need a keyboard and mouse. There is simply no other method to adequately use all the capabilities of a web browser. And the problem arises - how to connect it?

Of course, there are many ports on the side of the device. But sometimes, simply connecting the mouse connector does not help. After joining, it may simply not be detected by the system. And a reasonable question arises - what to do?

So how to do this?

First of all, let's get back to the instructions. It must clearly state which brands must be compatible with this device. Usually, it is enough to install a gadget from the specified manufacturer and the problem is solved. First of all, you need to look for models from the same manufacturer for this particular smart TV system. It is quite possible that the model will end up at the same retail outlet where you purchased your TV or set-top box.

But it also happens that there is no “native” mouse, and an alternative device is still not detected. For example, TV in 2012 does not see previously released devices. In this case, you will either have to be patient and try different manufacturers, or look for new firmware for your TV. A wireless model may also be suitable. An excellent option would be to contact a store or service center of this brand so that they can help you find a working device that is compatible with your TV. After all, they should already have sufficient experience in dealing with such situations.

SmartTVs have one fundamental problem: when it comes to smart features, controlling the TV with a standard remote becomes extremely difficult. Anyone who has dealt with SmartTV has encountered this problem, for the first time I even had the idea that manufacturers are specifically limiting users so that they surf the Internet less and watch online videos, and use their branded paid services more, where controls are optimized for remote control and it is easier to access the necessary content.

In general, after suffering with this problem for a week, I began to look for a solution. For SmartTV from LG, the manufacturer thoughtfully offered an option in the form of a wireless gizmo called “Magic Motion” AN-MR400.

This is a metal-look plastic squiggle that can be used to control the cursor on the screen, adjust the volume, switch channels, move up/down a web page and return to the home page. The instructions stated that it also understands voice commands. But it was kind of stupid to check it in the store. It was also embarrassing enough that I turned off all the LG TVs on the shelf with one Magic Motion and thereby attracted the attention of the store staff. So I learned that with its help you can turn the TV on and off.

This option costs just about $50. Ha... We ran away: pay another $50 for a second TV remote control. Why didn't they immediately include it in the kit?

But, after using Magic Motion in the store, I had to come to terms with the idea that it would cost me $50. Control was much more convenient than with remote control. I simply moved the cursor around the screen without unnecessary hassles and poked at the menu location I needed. I easily opened games and apps installed on the display case, and everything worked well, easily and quickly.

The only thing I didn’t like was that the “Enter” button is combined with the scroll wheel and is relatively tight. Every time it cost me extra effort to press it, and this, to put it mildly, was annoying. After turning the device a little more in my hands, I approached the seller and - no luck! There were no Magic Motion AN-MR400 remote controls in stock. I had to order separately online.

While still in the store, I managed to see on the forum dedicated to my SmartTV that, in principle, the Magic Motion remote control can be replaced by a keyboard with a LogiTech K400 touchpad. There was a link to a description from the official LG website, which stated that any wireless keyboard and mouse are compatible with this SmartTV model. But several discussion participants on the forum shared their bad experiences when the touchpad on a wireless keyboard did not work. And from the general noise we could conclude that the LogiTech K400 keyboard is the most problem-free option.

To be on the safe side, I went to the computer department, found a seller, showed him information from the forum, and he just shrugged his shoulders: they say, I don’t know whether the touchpad will work, because I need the appropriate firewood.

But spending $30 on a universal LogiTech K400 keyboard seemed more reasonable to me than paying $50 for a remote control that can only work with a TV, and I decided to take a risk. I bought a keyboard.

The package included batteries and a small receiver that had to be poked into the TV. Having plugged it in and turned on Smart-Menu, I was immediately relieved to see how the cursor on the screen changed its position when I touched the keyboard touchpad. But he did not react to the double tab. To launch the application, you had to press the “left button”. In principle, it is tolerable and even convenient. Of course, the Magic Motion remote control was more comfortable to hold in your hand, it is more compact and ergonomic, but you can easily type an email address and text from the keyboard; for the sake of experiment, I even sent a letter from my mailbox. Convenient, clear, fast - just like on a computer.

But there were also problems. Of the hotkeys, only sound control worked. When I started an online video, I couldn’t pause it as usual, either with a space bar or a button. Scrolling to the beginning and end of the video didn't work either. The “Home” button did not work and in order to return to the home page in the browser, I had to go back. But what bothered me the most was that I couldn’t scroll down Internet pages using the touchpad. The instructions for the keyboard suggested using “gestures” with two fingers. But the TV knew the “gesture” with only one finger and stubbornly refused to scroll down the page. I had to use the cursor keys. It is also impossible to turn on/off the TV from the keyboard.

In general, the conclusion is this. In general, of course, the Magic Motion remote control is more suitable for controlling SmartTV, but it is expensive, the “Enter” button is tight and the fact that it is paired with scrolling can affect its durability, and also - it turns out to be much slower to type text on the virtual keyboard, than on the keyboard and requires more extra effort. So, I am quite pleased with its replacement in the form of the LogiTech K400 keyboard. The cursor can be easily moved around the screen thanks to the touchpad, and pressing the left key is no problem, and typing text is generally a pleasure.

I think it’s no secret that modern TVs with Smart TV support the connection of regular computer mice and keyboards. In order to be able to manage the built-in browser, games and other applications. The process of connecting a mouse and keyboard is very simple; you just need to connect the devices to the USB connector of the TV.

In this article, I want to demonstrate how it all connects and works. There shouldn't be any problems. Although, I often notice messages that the keyboard and mouse do not want to work on Mystery Smart TVs. But, the instructions say that these devices are supported. I don’t know what the problem is, I can’t check it because I don’t have a Mystery TV.

And I will demonstrate the operation of a wired keyboard and wireless mouse using the example of an LG 32LN575U TV with the Smart TV function. My mouse is wireless Rapoo 3710p (I also tried connecting wired). And a wired USB keyboard from A4Tech.

You know, I’ll tell you this: to control Smart TV, its browser and other programs, one mouse is enough. What is the keyboard for? To enter text, there are some search queries, etc. You won’t be printing any documents on the TV. So, doing this with a mouse is also very convenient, on an on-screen keyboard.

If you are thinking about buying a wireless (or wired, which is not very convenient) keyboards for your TV, then it seems to me that this is not a wise waste of money. Better buy a good wireless mouse.

How to connect a mouse and keyboard to a TV?

Everything is very simple. Take a cable or adapter (if you have wireless devices) and connect it to the USB connector of the TV. USB connectors are usually located on the side or back of the TV. On my LG 32LN575U, there are three USB connectors on the side. Like this:

Messages about connecting devices should immediately appear on the TV:

And a message about connecting the mouse:

Immediately after connecting the mouse, you can control the cursor. The controls are smooth, I liked it. Just like on a computer, pages in a browser can be scrolled with a roller.

I don’t know if anyone will need this, but I connected two mice at the same time, and they worked without problems.

You can also type text from the keyboard without any problems.

Even the function keys on the keyboard, which are responsible for muting and adjusting the sound, were active and working. I definitely didn't expect this.

Everything works and is quite convenient to use. As I wrote above, the keyboard is not really needed, at least for me. It’s even convenient to type text with a mouse. Best wishes!
