EMZ: how to open a similar format. EMZ file extension emz file
Computer users often have to deal with new, unfamiliar extensions that you can’t figure out how to open the first time. Consider "emz".
Features of the emz format
An emz file is a source file of a format called “Enhanced Metafile”, compressed using an algorithm known as “GZIP”. Enhanced Metafile, or more simply EMF, is a type of vector image. The development of this format belongs to Microsoft Corporation. In the Microsoft Windows operating system, files with the .emf extension are actively and frequently used. If you unpack the .emz extension, you get simply .emf.
Processing utilities
How to open an emz file - this can be done using archive programs with built-in “GZIP” support. These include:
J7Z 1.2.0-1, PeaZip 5.2.1, UltimateZip 5.0.1.11. The programs “IrfanView” and “XnView” “know” how to open the emz file on the computer directly. If you use them, you will get an immediately editable vector image. Even more convenient than first unpacking and then launching the editor application. In addition, Microsoft Office utilities can also work with it without prior unpacking.
Thus, it is better to process vector images in specially designed utilities. For example - GIMP, Inkscape - are distributed free of charge, but are very multifunctional.
We have found 9 software records in our database eligible for .emz to .jpg file format conversion.
Many modern graphics editors and dedicated converters for Windows support conversion (or File Save as..) of EMZ format(Compressed Enhanced Metafile) to JPEG format (.jpg, .jpeg, .jpe). Some software might list only EMF format as supported however, but EMZ format is nothing but ZIP compressed EMF format, so any should work well.
For the macOS(OS X) and Linux users the options for emz to jpe conversion are somewhat limited, nevertheless you can find special utilities that should allow this conversion.
You can always download the multi-platform Inkscape vector graphics editor. It allows for import of EMZ/EMF graphics and can export the picture (probably as object) to PNG format. Once you have the .png file, you can use any of the available to get your JPEG pictures.

The tables with software actions are a good pointer for what a certain program does with various file types and often may give users a good hint how to perform certain file conversion, for example the above-mentioned emz to jpg. However, it is not perfect and sometimes can show results which are not really usable because of how certain programs work with files and the possible conversion is thus actually not possible at all.

EMZ Vector image file format
EMZ files are compressed data. Programs such as Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office can view and use such files. GZIP-compressed archives, EMZ files contain an Enhanced Metafile (EMF). You can extract EMZ files using programs such as WinGZip or GNU zip. After unpacking, the user can open the resulting EMF file. Importing the resulting file after unpacking into an editor program will most likely allow you to see its contents as a single grouped object, rather than a collection of individual objects.
Technical information about EMZ files
The EMZ format is closely related to other Windows metafiles - for example, WMZ. However, unlike the specified file, the EMZ format contains an upgraded metafile (EMF), which can be extracted from the EMZ archive by unpacking the latter. In addition, it is possible that an EMZ file created in Visio will not be opened by this application. In such cases, you may need to change the extension of such a file to lowercase letters (emz). This is especially true for Unix and Linux operating systems, where forcefully renaming such files will allow them to be opened.
